Your Pathway to Canadian Immigration

Provincial Nominee Program

The Canadian government made an agreement with local provinces in which they can nominate immigrants who wish to live, settle, and work in that particular province. In order to receive a visa through the Provincial Nominee Programs(PNP), the candidate is required to choose a province they seek to live in and subsequently apply for nomination.

There are basically two types of PNP programs. The first type is the skilled worker program which allows expedited processing for skilled workers that have a job offer from a local provincial business in an occupation or business sector that meets local provincial needs.

The Following Provinces and Territories Have provincial Nominations:

  • Alberta
  • British Columbia
  • Manitoba
  • New Brunswick
  • Newfoundland and Labrador
  • Nova Scotia
  • Northwest Territories
  • Ontario
  • Prince Edward Island
  • Saskatchewan
  • Yukon

Immigration Pilot Programs

Immigration pilots are programs specifically designed to meet the needs of particular areas and/or communities in Canada. Their goal is to bring unskilled, semi-skilled, and skilled foreigners to supply shortages in the workforce by creating a special path to permanent residence for those who want to live and work permanently in Canada.

There are several pilot programs that you can apply for:

  • Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot: This pilot is geared for individual towns to address shortages in the labor market. The only way to get this is to receive a nomination from the local government for permanent residency.
  • Atlantic Immigration Pilot: If you are a foreign skilled worker with a valid job offer from a participating business or a foreign graduate from a publicly funded post-secondary school institution in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia or Newfoundland and Labrador you may be eligible to apply for permanent residency through the Atlantic Immigration Pilot.
  • Agri-Food Immigration Pilot: This pilot opens the door for unskilled and semi-skilled workers who may have struggled to find pathways to permanent residency in the past. Canada has a significant shortage in the food production industry and has thus created this avenue to address the problem. Canadian immigration will process 2,750 permanent resident applications annually for foreign farm laborers, farm supervisors, harvesters, butchers, and food processing laborers.

Professional & Skilled Workers Program

This Professional & Skilled Worker Program allows individuals with significant work experience, employability, and adaptability to gain legal permanent residence in Canada. This program is points-based, in which individuals are being assessed on various socio-economic criteria.

There are several programs under the Professional & Skilled Worker Program:

  • Quebec Skilled Worker Program: The Quebec Skilled Worker or Regular Skilled Worker Program is unique in that it caters for candidates who have the interest to live, settle, and work in the Canadian province of Quebec.
  • Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs): Each of Canada’s provinces and territories has created its own skilled worker programs for those who want to live and settle in a particular Canadian province. When applying for a PNP, candidates are required to have the skills, education, and work experience needed to make an immediate economic contribution to the province or territory. They should be ready to successfully establish themselves in the selected region.
