Visitor Visas for Exploring Canada
A Visitor Visa or Canadian Tourist Visa is required for applicants who want to enter Canada on a temporary basis, whether it be to visit family or see the country as a tourist. There are two types of Visitor Visas, one for single entry and another for multiple-entry use. Single entry visas are granted for a period of up to 6 months while the maximum validity date for multiple-entry visitor visas is up to 10 years or one month prior to the expiry date on the passport or re-entry visa (whichever date comes first). You’ll only need a multiple-entry visa when traveling in and out of Canada.
eTA Application
You can head to the The Government of Canada’s official website to apply for an eTA to fly to, or transit through, a Canadian airport. To apply, you must have a valid passport, a credit or a debit card, an email address, and complete the online application.
Business Visitor Visa
This visa is for business individuals who intend to stay temporarily in Canada in order to engage in international business markets by growing, investing, or creating business connections. The Business Visitor Visa is for potential candidates who meet certain requirements and do not intend to impact directly on the Canadian job market.
Transit Visas
You need a transit visa if you’re from a visa-required country, and if:
- Your international flight stops at a Canadian airport on its way to another country
- You’ll be connecting between 2 international flights at a Canadian airport
- You’ll transit through Canada in 48 hours or less
- You don’t have a valid visitor visa You may be able to transit without a visa if you hold a passport from certain countries.
